Volleys are tennis shots that are hit mid-air without a bounce on your side of the court. They are usually done in the service box near the net to put away the point. The goal of a tennis point, if not won from a baseline winner or opponent's error (which you should never bet on), is to get to the net before your opponent and attack and win the point using volleys. Volleys are essential in doubles tennis, and singles tennis players should have strong volleys for variety in their game and to pressure the opponent that you will make them suffer when you get to the net. Be sure to hit the volley deep and away from the opponent, or to the sidelines out of your opponent's reach.
